Every symptom is a whisper from your soul.
Your Monday Morning Happiness Promptđ§Ą
One thing that I find all the time - across my clinics, workplace support sessions and general chats - is the damage thatâs caused by treating symptoms as individual things to be quashed, dispelled and minimised, without first trying to establish why weâre feeling them.
Because whether we like it or not, every symptom we feel â the bloating, the brain fog, the aching joints, the burnout â is your body trying to speak to you.
Not punish you.
Not sabotage you.
Speak to you.
Symptoms Are Messages, Not Malfunctions
Itâs easy to see symptoms as the enemy.
We live in a culture that pathologises (is that a word?! it is now!) every discomfort and rushes to silence it:
Cramps? Medicate.
Mood dip? Power through.
Fatigue? More caffeine.
Emotional overwhelm? Maybe youâre just hormonal... đ
But symptoms are not random they are invitations to listen to what your body (and mind, and soul) needs.
Your body isnât broken.
Sheâs wise.
Sheâs constantly responding to your environment, your beliefs, your emotions, your needs.
And sometimes, she speaks in whispers.
Whispers like:
âYouâre doing too much.â
âThat situation doesnât feel safe.â
âYou need rest â not another productivity hack.â
âThat food doesnât support me anymore.â
âThis job is draining your light.â
This Isnât About Blame - Itâs About Reconnection
This is not about blaming you for being unwell. This isnât about magically manifesting your way out of illness. This is about reclaiming a relationship thatâs been severed by years of gaslighting, medical dismissal, shame, and hustle culture.
Itâs about remembering that your body isnât a problem to solve â
Sheâs a partner.
Sheâs a compass.
Sheâs a storyteller.
When sheâs out of rhythm, itâs not weakness. Itâs information.
Sheâs asking for something.
And she will keep asking - with more urgency - until you respond.
What Might Your Body Be Telling You?
Here are some common âwhispersâ and what they might be gently flagging:
Chronic fatigue: Youâre living beyond your energetic means. Youâre outputting more than youâre receiving.
Digestive issues: Youâre struggling to âdigestâ something - food, stress, or unprocessed emotions.
Pain or inflammation: Thereâs fire in the body - maybe something youâre holding on to too tightly.
Mood swings: Your hormones are out of sync, possibly because your nervous system is on high alert.
PMDD or cycle disruptions: Your body is screaming for rhythm, for recognition, for rest.
None of these mean youâre doing something wrong.
They mean your soul is trying to realign you.
Your job isnât to silence the message, but to hear it, respond, and reorient.
This Weekâs Invitation: Tune In
Letâs not jump into fixing or cleansing or starting a protocol. Letâs begin, instead, with a question:
âWhat is my body trying to tell me?â
Donât force the answer. Just listen.
Try these gentle practices this week to help that dialogue begin:
1. Body Scan Journalling
Before bed or first thing in the morning, take 5 minutes to scan through your body.
Whatâs tight? Whatâs tender? Whatâs tired?
Ask: Whatâs this part of me holding? What might it need?
2. Let Your Symptoms Be Symbols
Got something playing up? Donât just reach for a quick fix.
Try asking: If this symptom had a voice, what would it say? Whatâs it flagging that Iâve ignored?
3. Choose One Act of Radical Response
Whatever insight you get- respond.
That could mean saying no.Skipping the event. Cancelling the workout. Calling the doctor. Taking a nap. Eating something grounding.
Not because it âfixesâ it â but because it builds trust with your body again. It shows her that youâre listening
If youâve been fighting your body recently, then please do try to remember these words this week - your body isnât working against you. Sheâs not trying to ruin your week.
Sheâs asking you to come home. To remember that wellbeing isnât found in how much you get done, or how âgoodâ you are at masking pain. Itâs found in the moment you say: âIâm listening now. I trust you. Letâs do this together.â
A Gentle Journal Prompt for the Week
âIf I stopped silencing this symptom and started listening to it, what might shift in my life?â
You donât need to find the perfect answer. You just need to ask the question and then move, gently, towards your own truth.
You are not broken.
You are not behind.
You are becoming.
And your body? Sheâs just trying to light the way.
With deep trust in your wisdom,
Always đ
