Your Monday morning Happiness Prompt
Healing begins the moment you decide to treat yourself like someone who's worthy of nurture.
Good morning, beautiful soul!
Let’s start this week with a little reminder—one that you might not hear enough. You, yes you, are worthy of nurture. Not just when you’ve “earned it” by ticking off the entire to-do list or making it through the day without snapping at someone. Not just when things are falling apart and you’ve hit rock bottom. You’re worthy of care, love, and attention simply because you exist.
And I get it—nurturing yourself might feel like a luxury, something to shove to the bottom of the priority pile. Life is busy, chaotic even, and looking after yourself can feel selfish when everyone else seems to need something from you. But here’s the thing: healing starts the moment you decide you deserve better than running on empty.
How Did It Get So Hard to Look After Ourselves?
Somewhere along the line, many of us started treating ourselves like the cup at the back of the office shelf that nobody cares about—overused, undervalued, and a little bit chipped around the edges. We’d never treat someone else the way we treat ourselves. Imagine if you let a friend skip meals, burn themselves out, or power through pain because "there’s no time." You’d never let it happen, right? So why is it okay when it’s you?
The truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup. When you look after yourself—really look after yourself—you’re not just doing it for you. You’re showing up for everyone around you with more energy, more patience, and (dare I say it?) even a bit of joy.
The Mind-Body Connection: Why It Matters
Here’s where things get really powerful: the way you treat yourself isn’t just about what you do—it’s about what you believe. Our bodies and minds are always listening to the stories we tell them. If you’re constantly pushing through pain, ignoring your needs, or telling yourself you’re not enough, your body hears that narrative loud and clear. It responds with stress, fatigue, or a flare-up of symptoms because it’s working under the belief that survival—not healing—is the priority.
But when you start to shift that narrative? When you decide you’re worthy of nurture and care? Everything changes. Your body listens to that, too. It starts to feel safe. It begins to trust that it can rest, recover, and heal. Small acts of self-care—like eating a proper meal, taking a break, or simply speaking kindly to yourself—send the message that you’re not in constant crisis mode. You’re safe, supported, and deserving of wellness.
And this isn’t just fluffy self-help talk—there’s science behind it. Chronic stress, self-neglect, and harsh self-talk can keep your nervous system in overdrive, making it harder for your body to repair itself. By choosing nurture, you’re helping to calm that stress response, creating the space your body needs to heal.
Small Steps to Start Nurturing Yourself
Now, before your brain starts screaming, “But I don’t have time!” let me tell you—this isn’t about overhauling your life or spending hours meditating on a mountaintop. Nurturing yourself is about the little moments, the tiny shifts that remind you that you matter.
Here are a few ideas:
Eat something you actually enjoy, not just whatever’s leftover or quick. Bonus points if it’s warm and eaten sitting down.
Take a guilt-free break. Five minutes of staring at the clouds, reading a chapter of a book, or dancing around the kitchen absolutely counts.
Say no to something. Your energy is precious—spend it wisely.
Be kind to yourself. No more beating yourself up for what you haven’t done. You’re doing your best, and that’s enough.
The Magic of Choosing Yourself
Here’s the funny thing about nurturing yourself: it feels uncomfortable at first. You’ll catch yourself thinking, “Shouldn’t I be doing something productive?” But I promise you, the more you choose yourself—your health, your happiness—the more natural it feels. And the benefits? Oh, they’re big. More energy, fewer moments of overwhelm, and this lovely little sense of calm that sneaks in when you least expect it.
If You’re Not Sure Where to Start
If you’re sitting there thinking, “This all sounds great, but I wouldn’t even know where to begin,” don’t worry. That’s why I set up the Women’s Health Online Clinic—to help you figure out the first step, and the next one after that. Whether it’s managing menopause symptoms, tackling hormonal issues, or simply learning to put yourself first, I’m here to help. It’s a drop in Q&A session - and it’s recorded so if you register you’ll hear your question answered without having to be there.
You can book your seat at tomorrow’s session here: Women’s Health Online Clinic. It’s warm, welcoming, and all about helping you feel like you again.
So, what do you think? Could this week be the one where you start treating yourself with the care and kindness you’ve been dishing out to everyone else? Because you deserve it. Not just on your best days, but on every single day.
Sending you all the love and good vibes for a wonderful Monday! 🌸
